Why do some men sympathize with rapists who get kicked in the testicles?

I've heard some men say that no man deserves that happening to him, even if he was just caught raping a child or something similar. They also said they didn't feel rapists should be castrated. Why would anyone defend a proven rapist? Now, I'm not saying all men say this but some have.
