Kuhli loaches swimming all over?

I have a heavily planted 20 gallon tank with guppies, tetras, glass catfish. I also bought 3 kuhli loaches a few days ago. Most of the time they hide under the wood and rocks, but today I did a 50% water change (tank is overstocked). This raised the water temp 3-4 degrees because since it's summer, the tap water comes out hot no matter what. I do float a ziploc bag full of ice in the tank when adding new water to counteract this a bit. Anyway, since the water change, the loaches have been very active, swimming all over the tank. Are they happy because they have new, clean water, or is this a sign of distress because of the change in environment/temp?

I used to work for an equine vet that specialized in breeding. There were quite a few orphaned foals in our care each year, and it was always the orphaned foals that bloated like that. From what I understand, it's a side-effect of malnutrition from lack of mother's milk. It's not always caused by worms. I would definitely talk to your veterinarian about it. If he's on a good de-worming program then a change in diet might be required. Our orphaned foals always grew out of it with some decent healthcare, nutrition and exercise. A bloated belly may also be caused by lack of exercise. Younger horses who were on stall rest, or who had been ill and inactive for some time would look like that. There are many possibilities here, so consulting a veterinarian is definitely your best bet for finding answers. I would just advise against de-worming him until he's confirmed to have worms. Too much de-wormer can do more harm than good. You don't want to de-worm a horse out of schedule before you know what he has. Certain de-wormers only kill certain species of parasites, so even if he has worms and you blindly de-worm, you may not fix the problem.

We have two 6 month old Pomeranians. A boy and girl, the girl came into heat, and the vet wont spay her until afterwards, so we had the boy castrated. By good filter I mean it is rated for more gallons than your tank actually is ( example: Filter for 200 gallons used on 100 gallon tank). That's perfectly fine! Introduce them in neutral territory where none of your ferrets go, perhaps the bathroom or a closet. The older males may drag the babies by the scruff of their necks, which is normal dominance behaviour. They will play rough for a while to make the babies know who is in charge and soon after should begin jumping and playing. Do not just put the babies in the older ferrets cage, they may become aggressive because that is their territory. You may have to keep your babies in a separate cage for a week or so but do place it next to the older ferrets cage so they can see and smell each other. Good luck!

Catching some big catfish help?

Me and a couple buddies have been night fishing for the past 2 weeks almost every night with night crawlers and we have caughten tons of channel cats up to 12 pounds. We have tried using live bait but nothing wants to bite on it. Stink baits only attract carp in the river. We have tried many spots but its all the same. The rivers a bit high so you cant fish in the actual river so we fish the backwater ponds and the tailwaters of the river and small banks. Any tips on what to do to catch the bigger fish? We are going to set lines out tmrw night and come back for them when were done fishing that night. Any help at all would be good. and dont say "fish on the river" cause we pretty much are.

Iridescent shark not eating? help?

Which fish combination would be better?

I hate to say it but neither sound good. Both tanks are just to many fish for one 20 gallon tank. Angelfish get big and need a good amount of space. Even worse on A you have Angelfish that can be aggressive(personal experience) and red tail sharks that can also be aggressive. The angelfish alone is going to need about 10 gallons. Keep in mind the very general rule that you need one gallon of water for each inch of fish. I have seen my fair share of tiger barbs that killed other fish with their constant nibbling. I would start him off with some Tetras they are easy and inexpensive. If he does well with those then consider the other types of fish. Good luck!!

dont take all the media out, take one pad out and give it a good clean, its what i do with most of my tanks, i have two or three other layers, and i wash one or two out properly,then leave the others be, never had a problem. check the impeller, if a vane has broken, or it is clogged, that will cause a drop in flow rate. the other thing is to try to get as much air as you can out when you prime it.

I am a 16 year-old boy who lives with his father and mother. They are happy together and the rest of my family and them get together. My Mom and I have a good relationship, but that could not be said for the "relationship" between me and my "Dad". I lived a very privileged life I guess compared to most. I was the star in my family whether it was sports, school, or anything else I was better than my other siblings. As well as the first boy to be born, so naturally my Dad took a interest in me. I soon became the only kid paid attention to, sure they'd go to my sisters choir things and my little brothers graduations but they would drop anything that my brother and sister had going on to come see me excel in sports or school. My Dad put so much pressure on me as a kid, and now as I am in high school I just can't keep my grades up and have been asked to not come back to my high school causing me to go to a different one. I feel like my Dad thinks way to highly of me and when I fail he doesn't know how to just take it as a mistake. He will yell at me all the time. Constantly yelling and telling me I am a loser just because I haven't done as well in school as I used to. He always tries to make me feel like ****, and over time I learned to ignore it. They are just words after all... I guess. Around 8th grade (I am now going into Junior year) he started to get physical with me. Pushing me holding my face down to the ground whenever a argument got heated. Then it progressed to throwing me down on the ground or into walls. To my clothes getting ripped by the shear force of him holding or throwing me, to bruises and cuts on my body and arms. To now where even when I am not doing anything but trying to do what he asks, he will still continue to yell and hold me down. Today, I asked him to stop yelling in my ear because it is the only ear I can hear out of he started to throw me around, he threw me on the floor and held my head down by pulling my hair and putting his knee on the side of my head. I proceeded to get up after I thought he was done, and he thought I looked at him with an attitude or something and threw me on my bed I tried to push him off and my hand was cut, along with my arm. Then he tried to hold my head down again with his knee hit my nose and caused it to bleed. And proceeded to knee my chest. I also learned to not fight back because It will just get worse. I know it could be worse and I have sympathy for those who it worse, but I don't feel that this is how parents should treat their kids. It's gotten to the point where I have to defend my sister and sometimes my little brother and even then I'll get abused. I look around at my other friends who do so many more bad things that my Dad would castrate me for and they don't get abused. Is this right? Could Legal action be taken? I too have a pregnant platy on my hands, and the first thing you should know is that they will eat their own babies, they do not realize they are living things and are opportunistic feeders. I would suggest buying a breeder trap, this separates the mothers from the rest of the tank and when the babies do pop out, they swim down through a crack in the plastic, into a small protected space. Platies, guppies, mollies and endlers are all live bearers, meaning their babies come out alive, able to swim, although weakly. Do not let the pet store workers let you buy an isolation net, as the mother will still be with the babies and will eat them in that confined space with no plants or other protection. This happened to me and I needed to go back to the pet store to buy a more appropriate breeding trap. Their stomachs will get huge, you will know if they are pregnant. You will need to keep the fry separated from the other fish until they are 2/3 the size of their parents. After that, you could buy another tank to put them in, as your tank is overcrowded as it is, or you could sell them to a local pet store for about 10 cents a fry.

I have recently found (what looks like) an old fishing rod in my shed. It came in a plastic tube and inside if the tube it was covered in what looked like a giant shammy with Japanese writing on it. Why are my channel catfish dying in my one acre pond but not my large-mouth bass or bluegill?

It has 5 adult african cichlids, a large pleco, a pictus catfish, and a marble sleeper goby. the tank always was crystal clear then one day it turned cloudy. so i took about 30% of the water out and vacuumed the gravel out. its been about 3 days since and if anything it looks worse. Why wont my turtle tank stay clean??!!?

Ok, I have a res turtle aprox. 4 & 1/2 in, he is in a 60 gal tank with a big floating bask area with a full spectrum 100 wat bulb I have 2 fish in there (were originally feeder fish but I guess he likes em too much to eat them lol) one is 1 in and the other is 3 in, they eat off the bottom like catfish so I don't feed them any fish food. I have about 2 in of rocks (big enough that he can't eat them but not huge) and 4 fake plants. I have an aqueon power filter 75gal and a tank heater that keeps the temp at 78-80 deg. Ok so now that I'm done with the spects ill tell you how I clean it, I do a vacuum of the rocks once every two weeks and change out the filters (my filter holds two cartridges) every week and put in a biological turtle waste and odor control at the same time, I also to 25% water changes every week, so why is my turtle tank always dirty??? It always has alge (I tried to get pleco and alge eaters, my turtle just eats them before they can make a difference in the tank) and it always has these like green thick but like half dime size spider web looking stuff floating around and the filters are sooooo dirty by the weeks end, I've had the filter for like 2 months and I had to clean out the whole thing because it was full of alge stuff.... am I doing something wrong??? I know I'm not supposed to feed him in his tank but he won't eat unless the water is over his head and I don't have a tub that big to feed him in other than his tank. Plus I don't want to have to empty a huge plastic tub twice a day and wash it out and fill it up twice a day.... pls no smart @$$ remarks, I am trying my best and doing the best to my knowledge and those kinds of answers don't help anyone and just make YOU look stupid because ur the one who wasted ur time reading my whole post just to say something dumb. No offense but he is biting you cause he has no respect for you. My horse bit me when I first got him but doesnt do it anymore due to long periods on the lunge line. When he does try to bite you, you have to be quick, quicker than him and as soon as he tries, or preferably before he tries smack him on the nose. Dont punch him... Pop him. He should learn that that is a ""No, no" Also, dont give him any treats out of your hand as this is very bad to encourage biting... If he tries to sniff your hand for treats, next time you go out in the pasture put a nail in your hand, between your fingers with the pointy part facing up, he wont like the prick it gives him and he wont try to do that. Also, I see he cribs? You can get spray that tastes bad to stop the chewing but... Anyway, its not a phase and if you let him bite you and crib and fling his head when muzzled then he will just do this more often, And it will get worse. You need to spend ground time, which a lot of riders neglect to do so, lunge him a build trust between you and him. No temporary fix works, You need to not let him bite you, he will just do this more and more and he will do it harder and harder and if you let him get away with it then... its going ti be disastrous. One more time, its NOT a phase and a temporary fix, well really, you want to fix it for a while then let him do it again? NO temporary fixes and its NOT a phase. Spends ground time, more than Saddle time and build a trusting bond between you two (: Please, dont take anything I said to harsh, not trying to be rude but just trying to... help xD
