When did it become PC to use "neuter" ...?
I was just talking to someone the other day that reminded me of this. Castrate is the proper term. I can't really tell you how it all started, but I think it may have to do with making the dog *neutral*, which really isn't correct either, because the dog is still the same sex no matter what is done to it. Although I AGREE with you about this, I still would prefer that the term neuter is used rather than FIXED. There has been many times on this site, that people have said "dogs are neutered, b*tches are spayed.* Some people feel that the word neutered is correct for both genders. I've been guilty of saying this myself, so, technically, I'm wrong. Now, you ask WHY?.....Well, I suppose out of habit, as that's what people have been saying forever. I will TRY to use the word castrate from now on. Old habits are hard to break! You make a good point. We all b*tch when someone uses the words lipstick or red rocket instead of PENIS, so why not start NOW with using the word CASTRATE? Let this be the *lesson for the day* in the DS.
